Online donation fund set up
to help victims of Haiku Hit-and-Run

It is with great sadness that we bring you the following news.

Last night, Julie Liu and Rachel Widomski were critically injured by a hit-and-run driver in the parking lot of Haiku Poetic Food and Art in the Short North.

Rachel is an artist and volunteer who has participated in Agora. Julie and her husband Paul provided all of the wonderful food at our Agora preview party this past April.

On Thursday evening, a man left Haiku without paying his bill. Julie, co-owner of Haiku, and Rachel, a bartender, followed the man outside to his vehicle.

According to police, the man started his vehicle and purposely struck Rachel and Julie as he backed out of his parking spot. A restaurant guest was also injured. He was treated and released.

Rachel was transported to Grant Medical Center where she was in serious condition Friday morning. Julie was in serious condition Friday at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

We are collecting donations to assist with Julie and Rachel's medical bills and other needs. Please help us at Haiku Help.
