Capital Crossroads Launches Downtown Recycling Website
Capital Crossroads has announced enhanced efforts to boost recycling in downtown Columbus. With the support of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, Capital Crossroads has launched a new website and other educational tools designed to grow recycling and waste reduction downtown. The website is planned to help offices commit to recycling, whether they are new to it or already have a program in place. The workplace Recycling Toolkit includes certificates, promotional flyers, stickers and more, all available on demand through the site. The site also offers a video highlighting what can be recycled and where, as well as waste hauling resources. http://www.downtowncolumbus.com/recycling

Snow Removal Update
Under the Columbus City Code, property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks that adjoin their properties. The City is responsible for keeping streets clear of snow and ice, and the SID focuses its efforts on keeping crosswalks and storm sewer drains free of snow and ice. Effective snow removal requires everyone's attention. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 614.645.5064.

Winter Pearl Market
Check out the Winter Pearl Market at 33 N. Third St. Fabulous finds and yummy treats are all within reach each Tuesday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. through February 25. Farmer Fridays will put fresh seasonal produce on your table, and there is a wide range of other goods including handcrafted soaps, delicious jams and jellies, fragrances, jewelry, clothing and baked goods that will knock your socks off. Credit cards and the Ohio Directions Card are accepted. The Winter Market is in its second year of a two-year grant from the USDA Farmers

Ohio Statehouse Celebrates Sesquicentennial
The people of Ohio will celebrate the sesquicentennial of the Ohio Statehouse throughout 2011. The Ohio Statehouse has served as the heart of Ohio democracy for the last 150 years and is considered to be one of the most significant architectural accomplishments of the early republic. Throughout 2011, the Ohio Statehouse will host a variety of special events, reenactments and exhibits to celebrate the sesquicentennial, commemorating the lasting legacy and history of the building, events and the people who have come to serve. http://www.ohiostatehouse.org

MadLab Theatre and Gallery Named Award Finalist

The Jazz Arts Group presents a new season of the Jazz Academy's PBJ & Jazz concert series presented by Bob Evans Farms. The one-hour interactive concerts are designed to introduce jazz and American music to young children and their families. Sean Carney, a Columbus native and legendary blues guitarist, will perform. City at a Crossroads: Columbus at the Beginning of the Civil War

Crossing the BLVD: Strangers, Neighbors, Aliens in a New America

The artists started this project in 1999 when they began conducting workshops for new immigrants to recount their experiences. Eleven years later, Crossing the BLVD has grown into a multifaceted documentation, consisting of an award-winning book, CD, website, performances, public radio documentaries and traveling exhibition.
