The new 126-room Residence Inn opened last week at 36 E. Gay St., after 18 months and $24 million of renovations. Work on the former Buckeye Savings & Loan building, which was built in 1925, maintained the buildings historical elegance and classic revival style, with 40-foot brass plated ceilings and marble floors and columns. The hotel will be available for weddings, parties and large events.

When the Ohio Statehouse Museum opens, it will honor Ohioans from all walks of life. In addition to great Ohioans such as the Wright Brothers, John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Thomas Edison and Jesse Owens, recipients of the Capitol Square Foundation Great Ohioan Award will be included in the exhibit.
