1. GenWex Presents: Circuit Benders Fri, Apr 4, 2008 | 7:00 - 9:00PM

Wexner Center for the Arts

Why should kids have all the fun? This evening workshop for grown-ups is part of our ongoing GenWex initiative.

Discover the joy of dismantling your old electronic toys with “circuit bending,” a do-it-yourself form of sound art. Minnesota-based duo Beatrix* Jar shows you how to connect sonic shortcuts and expose new or hidden sounds. We'll have tools, batteries, and toys on hand, but feel free to bring your own battery-powered, sound-producing toys to your workshop. No experience necessary!

3. Music in the Round presented by Capitol Square Rotary • Not your grandfather's Rotary club (www.capsquarerotary.com)
benefiting the Rosemont Center (www.rosemont.org)

A Front-Row Seat to the Song-Writing Process
Music in the Round is a special concert format that originated in Nashville's Bluebird Café. The concept is simple. The artists sit facing each other, surrounded by the audience. There are only two rules: the artists must play songs they've written themselves, and must play them on the instruments on which they were written.

Growing organically from the traditional jam session, Music in the Round has become a tried and true format where artists can showcase and polish new songs in an intimate, supportive environment made up of a music-loving audience - and their fellow singer-songwriters.

Music in the Round audiences get to see the creative process up close and personal. They hear the artists talk about their songs, particularly the emotions experienced before during and after the song's creation. Music in the Round is a treat for music lovers of all kinds, offering a one-of-a-kind format with some of the most talented musicians Columbus has to offer.

Get your tickets now! This event will sell out!

Date: Sun, 23 Mar 2008 12:11:58 -0400

Good morning,

I'm writing this note to let you know that I've started a blog regarding the Columbus Tech community. As you all know a blog without good content/dialogue is just another unused page. I'd like to ask your help in telling people about this site and inviting them make their voice heard. So here is the ask - send this note out (within 5 minutes of when you read this to 5 other people you know and ask then to pass the word on).

Please note: I've purposely sent this note to individuals who may have something to say and know of others who's views should be heard

Thanks,
Ben

8. 2008 YP Summit hosted by Young Professionals of Brevard

By Molly Foley, NGC Lead Consultant March 18, 2008

SAVE THE DATE and join leaders of Young Professionals Organizations (YPO’s) from around North America for the 5th Annual YP Summit, September 25-28, 2008 in Cocoa Beach, Florida!

The YP Summit is the only forum in the world dedicated to dialogue, experimentation, and best practice sharing from in — and outside — the YP movement focusing on the critical issue of attracting, retaining, and engaging the next generation.

This year's Summit is again brought to you by Next Generation Consulting (NGC), in partnership with our 2008 YP Summit host YPO, the Young Professionals of Brevard (ypB), and will build on the strong success of the first four summits - hosted by Young Professionals of Milwaukee, now FUEL Milwaukee, in 2004 and 2005; Madison’s Magnet in 2006; and Young Professionals Assocation of Louisville in 2007.

"ypB is both proud and elated that the Space Coast has been chosen to host this year's YP International Summit,” said ypB Chairman, Dawn Hamilton, program planning officer for Brevard Workforce Development Board, Inc. “We have a cutting-edge YP program that has received national recognition for its many member benefits, strong governance and active community involvement. Hosting this event is an excellent opportunity to showcase Brevard to several hundred young professionals from throughout the U.S. and Canada. We know that they’ll take back stories of the great experiences they had here and share them with their friends and YP peers.”

A two and a half day conference, the summit will provide YPO leaders a peer
to peer opportunity to learn YPO best practices, including how to build strong organizations and effective member-benefit programs, increase their individual leadership effectiveness, and gain insight into building better communities for YPs to live and work. The event will also feature nationally recognized speakers and local leaders, several evening receptions hosted throughout Brevard, and optional pre and post summit visitor packages.

Watch www.ypsummit.org for more information in May!
