Special Events Announced at OSU Urban Arts Space
The OSU Urban Arts Space, 50 W. Town St. in the historic Lazarus building in
downtown Columbus hosts the following special events:
Tuesday, April 1, Noon to 1 pm

History of Lazarus ~ Brian Ezzell
Brian Ezzell of Georgetown Midwest will give a talk about the history of the
Lazarus building, and discuss the memorabilia he helped salvage from the
building, which is displayed in the current exhibition.
Thursday, April 3, 5:30 to 8 pm

Carnival Closing Processional
Parade begins at 5:45 pm, led by curator Lesley Ferris, Columbus Africentric
Nubian Dance and Drum Company, and students from 4th & 5th grade art
classes in masks they made with artist Carl Gabriel. At 6:30 pm storyteller EmilyBailey from Columbus Africentric School is featured. And 7 – 8 pm is Jump n' Wave, a look at the Caribbean dances of Trinidad with choreographer Charmel Joiner.
Friday, April 4, Noon to 1 pm

Artist Talk with Robin Van Lear
Robin Van Lear, artistic director of Cleveland Museum of Art's Parade the Circle,gives a talk about Carnival costumes. Her costume designs are featured in
Midnight Robbers: The Artists of Notting Hill Carnival.

OSU URBAN ARTS SPACE EXHIBITIONS
Midnight Robbers: The Artists of Notting Hill Carnival, an exploration of the
incredible artistry of the London Carnival, co-curated by Lesley Ferris, OSU
Theatre, and Ruth Tompsett of London. It continues until April 4.

Linking the Past to the Future
, a look at the beloved Lazarus store and its
historic building through the years. The exhibition has been extended and
continues until April 5.
